Yoga is the practice of befriending and experiencing your body
Licensed Social Worker
Registered Yoga Teacher
Trained Birth Arts Postpartum Doula
In 2012 I was introduced to yoga by a fellow runner. Yoga was just cross training until I attended a yoga for trauma survivors training hosted by Street Yoga. It was the first time I realized that yoga offers physical and mental healing. That same year I completed my masters in social work at Temple University and began to share yoga at the women's residential substance abuse program where I was working as a therapist. The women were experiencing their bodies, better then any verbal dialogue I had with them regarding their traumas.
In 2013 I was provided an opportunity to work at a family center in Uganda. Little did I know that yoga was coming along for the ride. Yoga was shared with children & adults - Ugandans, Europeans, Americans, whoever was willing to explore yoga. It clicked! Yoga is a practice for anybody and any body. Yoga is a clear, intentional everyday, every interaction practice. When I returned to Philadelphia in 2014 I completed yoga teacher training at Anjali Power Yoga.
Because of yoga I consider myself a body based therapist and postpartum doula. Yoga is a energetic practice to destroy, cleanse, and create. I encourage letting go of preconceived notions and shift to a positive, hopeful mind for the best possible outcome. It's time to befriend your body.
Teaching experience includes Anjali Power Yoga, On the Goga, Center for Mindful Change, Duross & Langel The Studio, Philadelphia Runner, Lioness Prenatal Yoga, private homes, corporate settings, as a postpartum doula, mental health & substance abuse programs, homeless shelters, and classrooms.
